Anyone know if this is in the plans?

If they can do it for Chicago, why can't they do it for Philly sports.....

easy answer

CSN Philly is using a loop hole in the FCC law so they dont have to offer it to satellite...

(CSN Philly uses either microwave or fibre for the station so it isnt on a satellite for Dish/Direct to get)

But.....

Comcast is Comcast, why no offer it and beam it up to satellites?

Back when it was Sportschannel Philly & PRISM, they used microwave and fibre to get it to the stations...Comcast is still doing that

Why don't they offer it? Simple....MONOPOLY
They can say "get cable and you'll get Comcast Philly"

Comcast Chicago is sent via satellite

Philly has one of the lowest satellite penetration ratios of any of the major markets and you can point to the monopoly held by Comcast to control access to the Philles and Flyers for that.

Pray that the FCC doesn't ever let that forced carriage ability clause to elapse in the other markets or Cable will finally get the satellite killer they've been trying to get.

The reason CSN Chicago is on the Birds is that CSN Chicago is a joint venture between Comcast adn the Bulls, Blackhawks, White Sox and Cubs. The Teams have insited that the channel be offered to all comers who are willing to pay the price for it. They want penetration, while in Philly, Comcast wants exclusivity.

Not to mention that in Phiadelphia, Comcast owns the Flyers and the Sixers, so they don't carry as much about quantity of views like other owners would.
