FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - Curt Gowdy, one of the signature voices of sports for a generation and a longtime broadcaster for the Boston Red Sox, died Monday at 86.

I remember watching many a Saturday "Game of the Week" broadcast on NBC and hearing his voice giving me the play by play when I was growing up as a baseball fan in Florida without a home state team.

I'd say thanks for the news, but it isn't great news...
