Analog receivers (especially with no VCII board) can come very cheaply

I bought 4 off Ebay
Toshiba 1520 (that I donated to Pete) cost me $15
Toshiba 1420 (the replacement) cost me $18
Uniden Supra was $40
Uniden 4000 (I think) was $15

so for under $100 I have 3 receivers that can get KU analog if I so desire

Hey Iceberg...how big a deal is it to pick up one of these units without the remote. Do most universal remotes work with these and how do you tell what the functions are on the universal remote....it's been a long time since I've used one........Thanks, MK

That was dirt cheap.

The shipping isn't. You can easily pay 6-10 times for shipping for a receiver you buy out of state. The only beneficiary of such a deal is the USPS or other couriers...

I would get one with a remote....most universals just do the channel up/down. Once the unit tis set up you could use a universal. But the menus would need to be set up first :)

Hey Berg .......you have any more of these lying around ??????????????? LOL

:yes :yes :yes :yes

I was able to get some stuff from Pete that I needed, so we did a swap :D

As for the other 2
Supra has a real bad hum on audio
Uniden 4000 you have to fine tune the channel every time you change it

I got spoiled with the Toshiba. Set the frequency on the channels (most satellites are the same) and use the DVB to move the dish :)

Hey Iceberg...Could you do me a favor and let me know the model # or serial # for the TRX 1420 remote.........I picked up a receiver , but no remote was included. I 'll try to track down the original on eBay or find a Toshiba universal. Thanks, MK
