Not sure where this post belongs, but will put it here for now. Administrators, pardon if I put this in the wrong forum!

Got a stationary 30 inch dish pointed at Telstar 12 Ku at 15W for the past several months. Telstar has a handful of FTA channels but hundreds (200+)of encrypted pay channels.

This morning disconnected the STB from this dish, attached a Channel Master Satellite Signal Analyzer meter to serve as a voltage source for the LNB, then attached the RF Explorer Spectrum Analyzer to the Channel Master meter. Set the meter to 13v (vertical polarization) and turned on the 22 KHz tone for 10,600 LO. Then scanned from 1280 - 1580 MHz which would be the IF for downlink signals ranging from 11880 - 12180 MHz to see if any TPs show up.

As per the water fall, from left to right, the first wide band is centered around 1320 MHz, that I assume is the transponder 11920/v/45000 which are the encrypted channels.

Next narrower band to the right is centered around 1360 MHz which appears to be the transponder at 11964/v/14714 which carries FTA channels TPAI and RTVGE.

Next wide band in the center of the waterfall centers around 1440 MHz which appears to be the transponder at 12043/v/45000, which carries the encrypted channels.

Wide band to the right-most area of the waterfall is in the 1500+ MHz range, probably TP 12167/v/45000 which carries the encrypted channels.

Between 1500 and 1550 MHz IF there are a few narrow bands of strong signals, not sure what they are.

Anyone's help with this interpretation would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.
