September 11, 1985..........what is it, without looking it up?
Yup, I knew it as soon as you mentioned it and I saw your avatar reminded me !
I'm not gonna lie, I looked it up!
Wow.......it's been 25 years already....I feel old!!
At the risk of turning this into yet another debate thread, WAKE UP MLB.....Put Charlie Hustle in the HOF where he belongs!!! He's done his time!!

AMEN !!!!
Paging Mr. Selig. Mr. Bud "Light" (Kennesaw Molehill) Selig? Mr. Selig? Mr. Selig?
Baseball needs to correct this injustice before Rose dies.
Strikers, drug cheats, dopers, outlaws, all welcome. Only Rose excluded.
This will definitely NOT happen during Selig's watch.
He's clearly stated that he doesn't have the balls to do something like that and undo a former commish.
Looks like they are having a big event for this on Sept 11th. Perez and some others will be there including Pete, but I don't know how they will do it. They can't have a special ceremony without him just paying for a ticket in the stands unless they got permission from MLB.
(The Cincinnati Reds have successfully petitioned commissioner Bud Selig for Rose to get a one-day reprieve from his punishment so they can honor him on Sept. 12 at Great American Ballpark on the 25th anniversary of the hit that moved him past Ty Cobb for the all-time record -- only to have former commissioner Fay Vincent blast Selig, griping that rules are rules.)
Cool. It should be Sept. 11th though not the 12th.
I was in college when Rose broke the record. I watched in my dorm lobby with a whole bunch of other people. When Rose got the hit everyone left except me. I stayed and watched the whole game pretty much by myself.
I think September 11th has been confirmed as the date they will honor the anniversary of Rose's hit record. At first Rose said he couldn't make it on that day because he was scheduled for an appearance at a Lawrenceburg,Indiana casino. No joke.... He apparently has worked it with the casino and will be at GABP on the 11th. Rose will never change and I don't think he will ever make the HOF in any of our lifetimes.
Rose was always my favorite player. I hoped beyond hope for many years that he didn't bet on baseball but of course he has admitted it but without any real remorse,IMO. In my mind I have reconciled it that he was a great player and as a player one of my all time farvorites. But as a human being he certainly less than a favorite and pretty much nothing but a scumbag.
