I'd like to start a long-term thread where people can post about TV programs in HD about Space Exploration. Just to keep if focused, it would be best to not include astronomy and cosmology shows, such as Stephen Hawking shows, Cosmos, etc. In other words, only programs that involve man or machine actually leaving the atmosphere.
So, I'll start with 3 recent programs that might be repeated:
Starship Orion - Discovery SCIENCE HD - one hour program about the design of NASA's new Crew Exploration Vehicle that will replace the Shuttle.
Basecamp Moon - Discovery SCIENCE HD - one hour program about NASA's next destination (after completion of the Space Station) and research about techniques and equipment needed to setup a permanent lunar station.
NASA on HDNET - HD-Net channel - if you setup a "Pass" in your DVR for this title, it will record various launches. landings, etc by NASA that are presented in HD by HD-Net. For example, this morning, such a Pass would have recorded the launch of the Dawn spacecraft which is on its way to exploring the asteroids. You may want to extend the end of the timer, because - like sports events - the listings assume no delay, and sometimes delays would cause your recording to stop before the end of the HD-Net coverage.
( Note: When such a launch or landing is delayed by a full day - usually due to weather, Tribune Listings Service just copies the previous day's listing, so it looks to a DVR like a repeat, so you will either need to record "all episodes" or else manually restore the "repeats" that are actually just delayed launches. )
