Speaking to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Sony President and CEO Howard Stringer has predicted success for Blu-ray over HD-DVD in the impending next-gen DVD battle.

Claiming that videogames will play an important factor in the eventual winner Stringer looks to the Playstation3 as crucially important to Sony's forward plans and establishing Blu-ray as the next-gen DVD standard.

Finally Stringer ruled out any chance of an "11th Hour" agreement with Toshiba, suggesting that the specification and sales expectations for Blu-ray have been finalised.

I will buy the universal player and not worry about it. Let the studios decide which disc to use for the movie. I have an HD-DVD player on order now, and may get a BR computer drive and wait then for the universal players.
