Sounds more and more like HD-DVD may be the way to go.

Same happened with HD-DVD... These company execs/marketing departments make great announcement, but the new formats are hard to master since they have not been done before. People want fancy new menus and features, these take time to produce. The execs probably said no problem all our movies are already mastered in HD... They probably did not figure in the extra time to author the new formats.
