Los Angeles (CA) - Sony and Amazon, which a few months back announced plans to carry Amazon's Video on Demand service on Sony's BRAVIA Internet Video Link module, said today this service is now live. It promises to bring "immediate access to premium, commercial-free movies and television shows purchased or rented by users."
The process to bring Amazon's VOD service to the module seems simple enough. You register the Sony product to your Amazon account, purchase or rent programming through your TV or Amazon's Web site and watch it immediately as it streams to your television. For later access to this content you can visit the Amazon Video on Demand "Your Video Library" section, which is accessible in the same way as when you purchased it.
Sony also mentioned content is now available from Dailymotion and other providers "at no additional cost." The Dailymotion offering brings videos from many of the online video service's channels, including comedy, extreme sports, news, music and independent film. New, select HD content is available as well from various existing channels including FEARnet, VideoDetective, Blip.tv and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
