sonicview 1000 pvr and tivo

I got a sonicview 1000 pvr about a half a month ago. At the time i did not have the case to put the hard drive in. Since receiving it i can not get this to work. All it says on my screen is no hard drive found. I have called sonicview tech support at least 10 times. I have not spoken to a live person yet. It just say leave a message and no one ever calls you back. Other dealers i have called dont know anything about sonicview. I found some download instructions on the internet and it concerns downloading the information to a computer. I took it to the best buy geek squad and they could'nt figuare it out, even thought that did get the format in master like it says. But my reciver still doesn't reconize it. So does anyone here know how this hard drive goes and can explain it to a geekless person like me. Also if i went out a got a tivo and hook it into my receiver would i be able to record program shows that way? I called a tivo tech and he had never heard of a FTA system and he did'nt think they woul be compatble. Thanks for any help. Dennis
