What is this HD For Life thing going on and why are people freaking out? Why do people think DVRs are getting shut down now(even though it hasn't happened yet after years of the TIVO case)?
HD for life is not for new customers. It is for existing customers as well.HD for Life! looks like a new customer program it's being discussed here:

Where are you getting your info from? Direct did not lose subscribers, they had a net gain of over 100k. Dish is the only one to have actually lost subscribers at some point during the last couple of years. This DVR gloom and doom thing came out right after DirecTV and Dish posted their 1st quarter numbers showing that DirecTV lost subscribers and Dish added subscribers.Seems like DirecTV installers or fanboys trying to shill up some business for DirecTV.

Re-read the next to last paragraph of the linked story. While DIRECTV hasn't added that few customers in a very long time, it remains a net add quarter.
Direct added subs, they did not lose them. Where are you getting the idea that Direct lost subs?

ICE,
I realize I could not quote directly from the PUB, but am I still able to post the link to the thread in the PUB? Just asking for clarity and future reference. Thanks.
