Neeson|Pearl Creative Group's Innovative High Definition Package Support Launch of Gallery HD, First High-Definition TV Channel for the Arts
Boston, January 8, 2004 — Boston-based Neeson|Pearl Creative Group has created a high-definition (HD) on-air package for the launch of Gallery HD, a new television channel dedicated to exploring the world's finest museums, art galleries, architecture and exhibits of art in its varied forms, delivered with HD detail and clarity never before seen on television. Gallery HD is available exclusively on VOOM, the first television service to offer a comprehensive array of HD programming to customers throughout the continental United States.
While Neeson|Pearl has previously shot in HD for standard broadcast, the Gallery HD project is the first time the firm has created a package shot and composited entirely in HD format that was also broadcast in high definition. Neeson|Pearl created a series of innovative ID elements for the channel that capture the essence of Gallery HD.
"We brought the stunning imagery of Gallery HD to life by carrying vibrant colors, stripes, and visual tricks throughout the packaging," explains Ron Pearl, a Neeson|Pearl principal. "This allowed us to strengthen and reinforce Gallery HD's brand identity, while at the same time highlighting what high-definition technology can deliver to viewers."
Each ID features its own original composition by the American String Quartet, recorded in Dolby digital surround sound. Other elements created by Neeson|Pearl include logo design, promo packaging, and show packaging.
"We needed a firm whose creative work would strongly complement the spectacular quality, depth and texture of the images delivered in Gallery HD's programming," said Bill Roberts of Rainbow Media Holdings, LLC, creators of Gallery HD. "Neeson|Pearl understood our commitment to making Gallery HD a destination for viewers who, through the advent of HDTV, now have a channel they can turn to that opens doors to museums, galleries, exhibits and performances worldwide with a richness that cannot be delivered by conventional TV."
"This was a fantastic project for Neeson|Pearl," comments principal Cheryl Neeson. "It's exciting to have the opportunity to work in HD, and gratifying to see such beautiful results."
