I have had the 811 for about 2 weeks. I have been reading about the 49% signal flaw. I put an antenna in my attic and can receive stations in memphis (about 75-85 miles away)and get a respectable 75-80% signal. One memphis signal ABC 24, will only come in at 49% with no pic except when I do the info or channel guide button trick, then sometimes it pops up at 75-80%!!! If I ever get the pic to come up, the signal is great. Here's the weird part. I am 5-10 miles away from a local ABC channel 8 tower and cannot get a signal on the 811 and the attic antenna at all, but I get the local signal with a $9.00 rabbit ear antenna sitting on top of my TV!
I know the 811 has major issues, so I went to a local store and picked up a Sylvania SRZ3000 digital converter box for OTA signals. It pulls in EVERYTHING plus 2 or three extra channels I've never seen before, all on the attic antenna.
Will there be a software fix for this OTA problem anytime soon????!!!
