So which is better?

Having accidentally screwed up my style using the list on the right, I much prefer the one on the left. ;)

Well after throwing several search keywords into both. Feeding both the exact same word, words, or phrase.
They are both producing the exact same results.

It appears that the left side is just the "advanced" version of the right side. I think the simpler version may be sufficient for most.

With all of the techno-jargon and accepted shortcut references, this can be a difficult site to search. I don't think either is going to replace a Google site search that does a better job of finding synonyms.

I'd pick the one on the left, simply because it works. For some reason, every time I put a search term in the one on the right, it just takes me to another page where I have to re-enter the search term in a different box before it displays results. The one on the left, it goes directly to results w/o the middleman page.

I would say the one on the right because when I entered the terms 'c band install' the one on the right actually returned results related to that whereas the one on the left gave me results about the incentive auction, digital breakup on c band and ku install info. So, the one on the right for me. :)

The search engines of old seemed to discard very short search terms (one or two characters). You can imagine what the results of a search for "AZ EL SK" might look like.

I would have searched for BUD install.
