This happened to me tonight and I found it very strange. I have the Premiere Package and was set to watch the 86 World Series Game Six tonight at 7 p.m. I had been watching SNY earlier tonight but when it came time to watch that tape of Game 6, I got the old "program is not available in your area(727)." Why would a tape of a game that is over twenty years old be blacked out? I called DTV and the girl was flummoxed as to why. I called a buddy of mine in NY who was able to get it. I live in Tampa. I understand totally why I could not get a live Mets game unless I had subscribed to EI, but why would a game that is not live be blacked out? Has anyone else had a similair incident happen to them? I just found that very odd. Thanks guys for any help on this one!

I have never heard of on-screen error message x727, but that should have told them what it is. Now I can see I 1st line CSR maybe not having all error msg numbers in their script but a call escalation should have got to the issue. Does anyone here know what a 727 msg is?

What is your zip code ? Is SNY your in-market RSN or an out of market? If it is out of market, can you see if your in-market RSN is showing it and if you can view that? I too can't see any replay more than one season old being subject to BO rules, but as so wisely said above me; thats the MLB.

Believe it or not, MLB does require the black out of classic game broadcasts to out-of-market subscribers. Worse yet, classic games are not available even if you're a MLBEI subscriber. Just another example of the fan-friendly policies of MLB.

WOW! Not a huge MLB fan so I was unaware of that; thanks for the info GPG. I thought I had heard some dumb ass BO rules, but to me, this one tops them all.

Wow! That is amazing. My zip is 33569, wich is out of market for Mets games, but I just could not imagine a classic game being blacked out. Thanks for the help on this issue. I don't understand it, but not much you can do about it.

They best advise we give on any BO rules; complain to the league office and they make those rules. You can also try complaining to your local reps.

The MLB rules are why so many of YES programs are blacked out outside of the YES home markets even with sports pack.

Major League Baseball owns the copyright on every single MLB baseball game ever filmed/taped and they jealously guard that copyright. If a RSN doesn't buy national rights (at a much higher price than the regional rights) then they have to blackout the airing of MLB copyrighted material outside their regional coverage area.

That is just insane. I'm glad the NFL doesn't do that with classic playoff and superbowl games.
