I have an old D* receiver and a single LNB dish I want to slap up at my vacation home. What sat should I point at to receive the most programming?

Thanks - according to lyngsat, I probably wont be able to receive my loacals. That kind of sucks. Might have to up grade to a multi-lnb.

OK - I am really confused now. I referred to gtc's thread. His information says the MLB EI channels are located at the 101 orib location. I have 101 with a signal strength of 96. But, I don't have any channels in the 700's. What could be causing this problem?

Check then that tp signal where is ch 700 located.
Also, some channels jumping often around. Perhaps you should ask gct make current version for you; actually he doing that each month.

I wonder if this has something to do with me activating an old receiver and D* having to "refresh" it.... Does this sound logical?

Its a DRD420RE. Not sure how old it is. The lousy thing doesn't have a reset botton!

This is what my email from D* says:

An HD box in exchange for a DRD420? Hey, if it's free - I'll take it!

Is it worth becoming a DirecTV retailer?
