On the screen where you can check signal strength there are three measurements each for satellite and ota reception. There is a good description of how the signal quality number is caculated but I have another question.
On the line that reads Signal Quality/ SNR:, a typical reading from my receiver tuned to an OTA channel is 80/31.2. It seams to me that the label and values are reversed. SNR is typically expressed as a percentage (80%) and decibels are in the xx.x format (31.2).
The crux of my problem is that I am attempting to blanace my ota antenna gain with three in-house generated channels prior to distributing to 7 additional analog tvs but I don't have access to a field strength meter. A rough caculation of the amplified gain of my OTA antenna seems to correspond to the second number on this line so I suspect it is the db of the incoming signal.
Does anyone know if this is the case?
Thanks.
