Signal Scale on DISH receivers

For what reason would DISH Network receivers signal strength be scaled out of 125 instead a normal 100?

Believe it or not, SmithP is correct. Originally the scale went to 100 before the more powerful satellites were launched. When E*5 and 6 were made operational, in many areas the signal would show as 100 and no further peaking was possible. Instead of resacling the dish signal screen an causing customers to call Dish asking why their signal strength got worse (when it was just a rescaling and the actual signal wouldn't have changed), dish just added another 25 points to the scale. As Ripley would say, "Bileive it or not."

My signal strength on the 105 transponder my locals come from has recently improved significantly, I guess due to AMC15 going online. Maybe now I won't lose signal every time it rains.

I would add other technical note also - the signal strength show an RF parameter, not that quality level as FTA receivers provide, i.e. ratio between good and bad packets.

Keep in mind that the digital signal used for dishes is just like cell phones, if you have a digital cell phone you either have all the signal or none of the signal. With the dish you either have a pic or not, but the lower the signal you have the easiter it will be to cross the threshold where you don't have a pic at all. Normally a signal of 100 is a good stable signal. With 105 and 121, it isn't the same 65-70 on these two satellites is equal to 100-125 on the other locations.

Seems to me you doesn't have enough technical background - you second statement ( first was for 105 and 121 superdish ) reflect regular Joe's imagination, but not real things.
Satellite signal level could be in wide range.

The signal scale can be in a very wide range, thats true, but the signal strength doesn't determine the quality of signal, just how easily it's going to go out.....

Help please...

942 pic quality: DVI/HDMI vs. component: worth it??
