signal problem?

I have been having problems lately with some channels "skipping" randomly. The picture may suddenly skip or the audio will seem like it gets stuck. it rarely happens but it still happens. Its especially bad in storms ofcourse but I do get it on clear days too.

This seems to only happen with HD channels, I assume its because there is more data required for those channels. I also heard they are on the higher Ka band so they would have less atmospheric transmission.

I'm wondering if my dish needs to be reaimed or if I'm having an issue with my equipment or the CE software

Your 99c and 103c strengths are a bit low. As a comparison my 99c strengths are ranging from 86 to 95 and 103c are 82 to 96 for both tuners. My 99s and 103s are not applicable since we don't have locals here.

Get that dish re-aligned.

BTW, TP 28 on 101 is one of 6 spot beams.

I've never had to get my dish realigned, is this something directv will do for free? I've only had service for a month or two so I think I'm still on the protection plan. should I just call up and tel them my levels?

Call DirecTV and explain that your signals are low for 99c and 103 c. They should do a realignment for free since you are a new customer.

The directv guy came today, he just adjusted the AZ and it brought my numbers up. 101 up maybe 3%, 99c and 103c up to an average of 85 (from 77)

I would have tried this before but I kept thinking that since 101 was good and the other two were down, that my tilt must be off.

Also, I mentioned that several of the bolts were loose but he told me that wasnt an issue. I think I'm going to go ahead and tighten them anyways

Be careful about tightening the bolts. You could cause the dish to move a little. The installer should have tigntened everything.
