I aimed my slimeline dish yesterday without signal meter, and all transponders with the exception of a few are 85-100, on 101, 110, 119. I get no signal on the 99 and 103. I get 1 transponder with a 81 on 103. Should i be getting more signal on these, or should i re-align my dish?

Also, what satellite are the hd locals on? I can get my HD locals fine.

buffalo market...

im out of the buffalo market, and i have the 5 lnb slimline dish using an h20-600 with the new software update.

Same situation I am in. How does one know if the installer peaked the Dish for the new sat locations if you don't have HDLIL yet?

Are you sure you don't have only 3 lnb's on your Slimline? I'm located in Vermont and had a 3lnb Slimline installed 6 weeks ago. Total newbie I am. I only get 101, 110, and 119 satellites. My installer told me that I didn't need the other 2 lnb's because of my region. He also told me that I will be able to receive ALL the new HD cable channels when they become available with only these 3 satellites and the 2 B-band modules on the back of my HR20-100s receiver. I hope he knew what he was talking about?

He's a knucklehead!

The SlimLine has the ability to "see" all 5 orbital slots with the 3 housings. One can see 3 at a time; so 5 LNB total.

99, 101, 103, 110, 119

REALLY? how do some of these guys get hired/stay hired.

So why is it I'm only seeing 101, 110, and 119 on my signal strength tests and why aren't I able to see channel 499 and all these 9000+ test channels? Seems everyone else can but they're not available to me. I just figured I had 2 missing lnbs. I'm a knucklehead too. LOL

You may be far enough from one of the spot beams to show any signal. I suspect, however, that you are not waiting long enough on the transponder test screen. It takes about 10 seconds for any signals to show on the screen.

Channel 499 only worked with certain models/manufacturers. If I'm not mistaken, the 9000+ channels are only available to those that are doing engineering/testing for D* and are not available to the general market.

Actually, I'm not sure they do stay hired, everytime I talk with one they say they have been with the company less than 6 months, I'm sure the turn over is tremendous.

I think he has the 5 lnb and just doesn't know it. he has the BB Converters so you would guess that the tech put up the right dish, perticularlly seeing the 5 lnb is the only one they install for the most part.

Did he install a multisiwtch as well? If you use just a regular 5x8 your ird wont see 99 or 103. You need the special KA Zinwell multiswitch.

I have 3 lnbs in front of my Slimline with 2 blank opening to the right, that would be looking at the lnb's from behind the dish. I dunno, that's what I have tho. I have a single receiver but I do have a multiswitch installed, a Zinwell DB-8, 4 cables in & 2 out.

Thats the 5LNB SlimLine alright.. There were rumors that those "open spots" might eventually house an add-on for the international stuff, but I never verified that, nor read anymore about it, so maybe I was getting yanked. BUT you have what you should have, and you have all 5 LNBs just fine.

Its not the knucklehead fault. Next week I will be the knucklehead.
I will start on my own. 4 weeks is not enough training. There is a lot to learn. The knucklehead needs to ask his lead for help. I know I will not want to ask for help but I know I will have too. We start doing installs to soon but I only make $8.00 per hour during training. when training is over then it is piece work. I have seen bad work done and the installer are in a hurry so they can make money. I take pride in my work so I know I will be slower. I will have to learn tricks to be faster. I'm asking Questions that will help me to become faster. I will do the job right or I will not do them. We have a QC person that will check my work so I want it to be good.

I feel ya and hear ya, but I will take a polite "sir I do not know, let me get that info for you" over a blurted out non-truth, half-truth or mis-info any day. Doing the latter basically makes it his fault sorry to say. If you exit training without a full understanding of what to do, shouldn't you speak up rather than pass yourself off as ready to go? Just my thoughts. Good luck to you, I hope you do well.
