What's the deal with the scalar ring attached:

It looks like a way to get the equivalent of a dual out of two singles or a quad out of two duals. Also, if you had separate C and Ku LNBs, it looks like that could work.

Does someone supply this sort of thing in the US?

its for one of two things
-two LNB's very close to each other
-some satellites in other parts of the world have both circular & linear transponders somehow. SO they have 2 LNB's aimed at one spot
