Anyone know about the camera on this shuttle mission ?

They seem to have better quality cameras than before - perhaps HD ? It seems to be using the whole resolution of the NASA-TV SD channel (channel 213).

Now you can read all the labels on all the various dials, and the views of the clouds on earth are quite detailed.

Are you talking about video highlights of the day? Those were shot with a handheld camcorder, which is likely to be high quality, perhaps even HD.

Yes - and now they are showing the Day 3 highlights... terrific stuff - the best thing was the view from the shuttle window of the approaching space station - which makes the space station so much more real when you can see it from somewhere else... Much of the "video highlights" footage is not part of the live coverage...

Looked great indeed! I also liked the shot of the final few feet: the illuminated ship approaching the station. Like a sci-fi movie, but even more dramatic when you realize that this is hapenning for real! :up

They shoot them throughout the day and then downlink at the end of the day before going to bed. You can actually catch that moment on NASA TV.
