Shaw Direct installer in Niagara Falls NY

I found one here in Niagara Falls. He's rather pricey but the only one I could find.

This is his first Shaw Direct installation. I'll follow up and let you know how things progress.

Well, here's what happened. He installed the dish using the settings used on dishpointer.com. Made all the connections and turned on the receiver. It was at channel 299; went to channel 252 and had signal strength of 0. He went back up and adjusted the skew and the signal strength went up to 98 and the dB 9.5

I called the broker for activation. I gave the broker the information requested except for one: V code. I could not find a V code anywhere but I did find a line in the Settings (Line F) which is the Network Data Status. The broker asked me to go to channel 354, but again there was nothing on channel 354. The broker thinks that the dish is pointing at the wrong satellite. I contacted KUSat where I purchased and they think it's ready for activation and they stated that to their best knowledge I should not be getting any picture or sound.

Any ideas?

John I think they are right that Shaw is different from BEV where they have some channels you can see w/o a subscription. BUT even though you can't see anything you should get signals from channels on both birds. I dont know whether 354 is on a different bird from 252. In fact I dont even see a channel 354 in the Shaw listing are you sure it exists?? My listing says 353 and then 355 (both movie channels).

The "V-code" your broker is referring to is the channel map; it's Option 4-7 Line F and says "Map Status" - should be in the form of XXX-XXXX.

And if you just ordered a dish from the folks in Montréal, you will have a XKu LNB, and ought to be on channel 252 for activation.

My system was activated today. The only channel where I was getting a signal before activation was 252, but no picture or sound. The activation took about 20 minutes. My signal strength is 98 and the dB varies between 9.2 and 9.8. My LNB is xKU, and Line F in Option 4-7 says "Network Data Status" which led to some confusion because the activator kept asking for V-code. All is well and working just fine. Thanks to everyone for their comments and help.
