So answer me this guys, I live in NC but I'm a native of Long Island. AFter my install in NC I switched my service address to my uncle's address on Long Island. I got all the New York Locals ( Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS) However, all the other locals PBS, CW, MY9, etc....all said not available in my area. Is this due to this Concus (SP) thing. lol any help would be greatly appreciated.

we call what you did "moving"

the term you are thinking is ConUs, as in continental us.

the channels you are missing are spotbeam to the new york area only, thus not conus.

Sounds totally right to me. The Big 4 networks are on ConUS...meaning they are receiveable anywhere in the lower 48. All other NY locals are on spotbeam and only available to the NYC market.

Thanks for the info guys, so no chance of getting those down here, just the big 4.

You could sign up with E and sub to the superstation pack. That would get you 9 and 11. But 13 you are S O L. Years ago before D even had NY locals I had an account with E just for locals and the superstations. I don't even know if you can still get away going that cheap anymore. At the time it was $10 a month.

Actually you can, but it's a little more now...
It now costs $6 for access w/NO AT/DL pkg, plus $6 for the supers.

But, if the OP just wants NY SD locals, he could actually sign up for E*, "move" it to NY, & just get NY locals instead, which would cost $5 & get all 6 nets out of NY anywhere, since (according to Lyngsat) E* still has the big 4 NY nets on CONUS, so he would end up getting 9 & 11 as well. This way, he could get his "real" locals on D* (or whatever DMA he was getting) PLUS get the 6 NY nets, for only $11.

Certainly something to consider. If E carried Yes I would consider it myself.

Well the main reason I did the address thing was to get Jet games without having to shell out the huge money for the Sunday Ticket. Plus I like having the New York locals, reminds me of home.
