I've only ever installed dishes at ground level. I'm considering installing a dish on a deck that's about 12 feet from ground level. Would the maximum object height calculation on dish pointer still be accurate, or could I add those few feet to the height total?

In this case, I've just *barely* got enough clearance to get 123W, but the engineer in me would like more of a comfort zone ;)

From dishpointer, when you click on the red knobby thing:

h
= the maximum height of obstacle measured from the base of the dish.

So it sounds like you'll be able to subtract 12 feet from the height of the object, unless I misunderstand something. ;)

I agree with USDownlink, the maximum height will be referenced to a level plane, actually I think, from the LNB. Of course, unless you have a gigantic dish, your starting to squabble over immeasurable values anyway -- ha.

EDIT: Let me rescind that, I imagine one needs to include the whole reflective surface and would therefore consider the plane at the BASE of the dish, as USDownlink stated....
