I bought mine direct from tenow@prof-tuners.com before Rick started carrying them. It looks to me like Rick is the sole NA distribution channel. You might email China and see if they will sell direct.

Bummer. Guess that was one way to increase those formerly reasonable prices...
Perhaps dealers lowered the boom on Prof for competing with them...
I would rather buy from another dealer in the US. If Prof is not going to sell direct, they ought to use some other US dealer, IMO...

I'm not trying to start a flame war, because I understand not everyone here is a friend of Rick. From what little I know, the fact there is but one dealer for Prof in the US was primarily caused by lack of interest from the other dealers. The market for PC tuners here is much less than in several other parts of the world, and the unit costs are small. If you look across the FTA dealers in the US, very few even carry a single PC tuner. They are not the hottest tickets and these are not the best of economic times.
I don't know why Prof shut down their online store, but there are a number of good business reasons one might suspect. In reality there are very few technical goods made in the Far East that we can purchase directly from the manufacturer. One of the exceptions disappeared; big deal.
For those who feel the need to not support Rick, the DVB World tuners are available at other dealers at demonstrably higher prices. I'm sure they are quality units, but I see no value in paying an additional 50% or more. Nevertheless those with different political/personal principles may find them far more attractive. Having personally imported both DVB World and Prof tuners in the past from China, I can say the markup on the DVB World tuners is much higher.

To dispense with formalities, I consider myself a good friend of Rick and he has always gone out of his way as a businessman to treat me fairly and honestly. But running a business and being a customer is a two-way street and not everyone ends up with the same opinion.

This is a touchy topic in the FTA world, as there are those who believe posting open feeds leads to their encryption, and there are those who believe the satellite operators know exactly what they are doing and could care less about open posting. SatGuys tends to lean towards the former and the "What's Up There" sub-forum is available only to a restricted membership. I'm not a member, but if I was I would have to abide by the rules and keep feeds I posted and read there under wraps.

My recollection may be faulty, but I believe from the Linux drivers that the 8920 uses a CX24116 demod, which is the same as in the older generation DVB World 2104C tuners. I have several of these, and while they were good in their time, the STV0903 demod in the current generation Profs cleans their clock.
This encapsulates the positions well.
For those who consider the latter argument to dominate, why don't you envision an environment where many hobbyist satellite equipment suppliers would have such a forum.
Having a place where customers could find inside information would improve business for all the satellite dealers! (because the proprietors are cool, why not buy a system from them)
Content providers and operators would continue to transmit feeds in the clear. Why? This is because they would still make the same amount of money regardless of the number of people who watch their content for free or not...

I was only trying to address the questions asked, and trying to avoid any OT debate.
When I started in FTA, I thought this was a simple issue. But the more I dug into the facts, the more apparent it became this is fuzzy, with complexities rarely discussed. And in some cases better not discussed. I came to my conclusions and respect others regardless of where they stand.

Right demod, wrong tuner. This appears to be a clone of the TT-1600, which is an ok unit, but not great. The STB6110 uses lower power but has more phase noise than a STB6100. This affects higher order modulations like DVB-S2 8PSK and beyond.
dood, that is why Google was invented. I looked there and found it, cant recall which dealer it was but look for it there.
