Seinfeld

I have not watched it this week on TBS hd but will dvr it for tomorrow.

This article that is 2 years old, said at the time that Sony (the owner of Seinfeld) is in the process of remastering all 180 episodes.
The Show About Nothing Will Really Look Like Something - 2/20/2006 - Broadcasting & Cable

The article claimed that HD eps were just about to air, and I have seen them on local HD channels long after that, so they must have been HD at the time.

It looked fine - but it's just a couch and a refrigerator in a room...

I watched the Merv episode last night, looked pretty good, there is a thread at Avs on this with some captures... set Dish dvr for today's episodes...

I recorded and watched one of them tonight.

I was very impressed how it changed. Very good pq.

I say :up to TBS hd and Sony!!

Update: I 've now seen the recent articles - the ones airing now on TBS-HD are transferred in 16x9 from the original 35mm film - part cropping and part open matte.

I DVR'ed tonights two eps - they look nice - not particulary "clearer" than the upconverted 4x3 on the local HD channels, but the colors are truer.

Of course, the writing is always excellent.

On the one hand, they deserve good treatment because they are classic television, on the other hand, the enjoyment of the story is no more than on a 13 inch black-and-white TV...

NOTE:

If you already have a Seinfeld SD episode in your Dish HD-DVR, it will not record the HD episode - it will state "already in DVR" - unless you "restore" the individual timer event in your Schedule.

( And, of course this applies to any other program as well. )

Most shows on TBS look pretty good now. I usually watch king of queens and Seinfeld and they both look very good lately!

From EW.com
The Seinfeld cast is making another must-see appearance. EW has learned exclusively that the four stars of NBC's long-running comedy -- Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards -- will be featured in a multiple-episode story arc on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm this fall. The cameos will mark the first time that all four actors have appeared together in a scripted TV show since Seinfeld went off the air nearly 11 years ago.

I am loving this... I record every day and usually watch episode or 2 before bed...

I did that for a long time. My favorite episode is the "The Hamptons". Seinfeld is about the only show I can watch over and over because it is so well scripted.
