What doesn't TiVo want you to know? We've been asking the
popular DVR for a sample of its new HDTV-recorder for
months, to no avail. So, I decided to buy one--with my own
money--to add to my digital den. And along the way, to
justify the price, I decided to review it. And although I am
a TiVo-holic, and I do love my new toy, I did uncover its

Thats a good honest review. And what he has uncovered is commonly known if you read a forum like SatelliteGuys, and while the HDMI is a problem most people are still enjoying the HD Tivos without using it.

I think he was just trying to drive traffic to his site ... worked on me <---- Sucker.

I have had my unit in use for about 8 days I would guess. I love it and I figure if and when I get a TV with HDMI if my port doesn't work I can stick with the component, get the D* protection plan and after 30 days file my claim. Normally I would call this sneaky and underhanded, however, in this particular situation I feel DirecTV is 100% responsible to ensure my HDMI port works even if I don't use it for 3 years ... just because they know it is bad now! :dev

well I've had my HD Tivo for about a month now, and my HDMI port is fine.

I also got the protection plan, for 2 reasons. 7.99 a month is worth it considering how much I paid for the Tivo, and second the known HDMI problems.

...so far so good.

I've had mine since May and using the HDMI to DVI cable, no problems with it at all.

I've had mine since the end of June. Using hdmi-DVI from day one without problems.
