Part of the story indicates the earth could reach temperatures experienced 130,000 years ago within 100 years.

OK, stupid question: What awful capitalist industry polluted the earth 130,000 years ago to make the temperature rise?

I am almost 40 years old. I distinctly remember being taught in Earth Science during Jr. High that the earth was still in the process of coming out of the last ice age. Why is this never mentioned when global warming is mentioned.

herd,

question, when you put ice cubes in a glass of water, when the ice is melted, why is the water level lower?? think north pole, all ice right? dhouhhh! water expands when it freezes!

and the current biggest nutcase in the socialist/democratic party (al "i invented the internet "gore ) is out there screaming NEW ICE AGE, NEW ICE AGE!

Question: What happens if you hold a ice cube on a playing card (land) above the glass of water (sea)?

a mess on your pants?

the card gets wet and it runs off. so?

there is no land in the arctic. and that is by far the biggest iceberg on the planet, larger than the south pole.

the danger of ignoring this is too big, i have read 80 feet, most people today live near ocean, states like florida would be wiped out.

certinally hurricanes today appear to be getting worse

its time to be careful

so if this rise is linear, that means each year the sea level is rising .2 feet and at the end of 100 years it will be 20 ft higher...

The sea level COULD go down 100 feet in the next 5 years.

The word to look at is COULD

I realize it is important about the ocean levels rising, but no one has answered the question of what capitalistic industry warmed the earth 130,000 years ago.

Didn't you watch the day after tomorrow?

if not you should...

We all need to start drinking a lot of water!

Or crank up some heat lamps on the ocean to make it evaporate! YEAH! That's the ticket.

I've heard the bad where we could have famine and drought and floods. I've heard the good as well where there would be longer growing seasons and so forth.

Keep in mind that these predictions are made by the same people who can't give you an accurate weather forecast for later today. What makes you think they're so much more accurate predicting weather conditions 100 years from now?

Amen to that mperdue.

One doesn't although, need any scientist to see what all the pollution we have already dumped and also what overpopulation will do to us far sooner than global warming will.

But look on the bright side it will virtually eliminate all our current gripes.:)

State of Fear ??

If you haven't done so already - read Crichton's treatise on this subject. Very well researched and looks at both sides. In spite of his quote below, Crichton does have an agenda, but I think most rational minds would agree with it. Decide for yourself...

I can't wait for the movie!

"Politicized science is dangerous!"

One mans rising ocean level is another mans beach front property in Kentucky. Seriously, the planet is continually changing...it has been doing so for billions and will continue to do so. Man will either adapt or die. If the reports are true, my bet is that man will be smart enough to seek higher ground over the next several hundred years.
