Is there a fix for this? When connected via DVI the screen blacks out for a second or so randomly every few minutes. No problems using component. My STB has the 620 software and I have a Samsung HLP-5085W DLP.

Seemed to happen on every channel I was looking at, but I didnt try all of them.
I called Voom about it and the rep said they new about this and it would be fixed with the new DVR box coming out. (???)

CarlosC,

with version 6.20 it should not happen in every channel but only on the three I mentioned above. This is what I have seen this behavior. I suggest you to have your box replaced if it is happening in more than these channels.

OK. I actually have two Voom boxes in the house, so I'll try replacing one and see what happens. Thanks for your help.

UPDATE: I connected the second Voom receiver and although it has much fewer dropouts than the receiver I was using, the screen still blacks out randomly every few minutes on various channels including locals and others such as Discovery HD and Equator HD. Do you still think I should have Voom replace both receivers?

are you using the same DVI cable or did you replace it as well? What happened to the first receiver when you connected back to the one you replaced? Try both of these and let us know. Just trying to understand whether the problem is the receiver, cable or coming from outside.

The DVI cable is from bettercables.com (Display Magic 3m) But I have other DVI cables that I've tried as well with the same results. If I hook up either box via component there are no dropouts at all...on any channel. Btw, if I hook up my DVD player through the DVI input, its perfect...no drop outs ever. Also, the satellite signal strength according to the Voom receiver is in the 93-95 range, so I dont think there's any problem with the signal coming in. I guess I might have to stick with component from the Voom receiver for now. Still not sure why the Voom rep would tell me its a known issue and that the next gen box would fix it.

That's quite strange. I do not know what to say. What type of TV do you have?

Only suggestion I have is to report the problem to "Wilt Hildenbrand" wilth@optonline.net. Send him an email with the model of your TV and the description of the problem plus all the tests that you have done. Maybe he or the Motorola Team has seen this happening and have better suggestions/recommendations. Mr. Hildenbrand is the chief engineer at VOOM and works very closely with the Motorola engineers. Good luck and let us know what happens.
