Disney announced that it will launch high-definition versions of four of its cable networks on DirecTV's satellite service by early 2008.
The announcements of the new ABC Family HD, Disney Channel HD, ESPNEWS HD and Toon Disney HD services come in the wake of DirecTV's plan to provide over 100 channels of HD programming this year, which it first unveiled at the CES show in January.

Yes they had 2 on display, I'm not sure how practical it is but it is interesting. How come you seem to be lacking news on this event TS has multiple reporters but you seem to be ignoring this event. Directv has spent a lot of money on this event Sinbad/Sheryl Crow/ Rod Stewart, rental of Gilleys for Sheryl and Texas Stadium foe Rod Stewart. Open bars and no reports your missing a party and not giving a lot of news to your readers. HR20-100, HR20-300 & HR21," SWiM"?I did hear that the new Suitcase Dish / LCD combo will be available starting on 5/2.
Because honestly there is no news coming out of it.
Its a bunch of "were sorry, we love you" to the dealers.
And the good majority of announcements there have been for dealers not for the public (ie dealer sensitive information) which we dont report here anyways.
I was hoping for some great reports but have heard nothing from our people there. I am told that the show floor is half the size of the Satellite Expo show floor and its mostly programmers showing off (and a lot of porn stars)
I do understand that the boze is flowing like crazy there though, and thats cant be a bad thing. I heard last nights concert by Cheryl Crow was excellent.
Get ready Rod Stewart is coming, and someone told me that hes dedicating "Tonight's the night" to you Boba.

After a fantastic start to three days of treating dealers like royalty, how do you bring it to a close? Well according to those in attendance at DIRECTV’s corporate event, the “Revolution,” you start the last day with a great breakfast and some exclusive DIRECTV seminars. You then follow that up with lunch featuring none other than Super Bowl winning quarterback, Peyton Manning as the speaker.

Suitcase Sat-Go will retail for about $1500. The really big news for consumers is that during the final days Q&A, the question was asked about how much the HD package would increase in cost when these additional channels launch. Chase Carey (DirecTV CEO) said that they would not increase from where it is today! He felt the HD plans (TWC, Disney, etc) would be to complement the SD package. Great news for the consumer.
I agree with Chase.
They won't charge extra for the HD channels, instead they will charge a HD Technology fee. You will get the HD channels that match up with the SD Channels in your package.
If you want more HD channels upgrade your package to where the other channels are.
