SC - 2 new HD channels

ooo.. its a good thing I got my dish mounted up today.. I will check them out when I get home..

What channels are they coming up as?

They are 280 and 292. My 505 is showing an HD carrier signal, with that "Subscription Required" window

One is probably CBC HD. I can imagine the calls to SC on Nov 5 if H.N.I.C. is not available in HD.

No guide info, but they are now mapped into my 401 as well. 4XX receivers show more Diagnostic data vs 5XX receivers

280 shows up as Virtual transponder 50 Service # 1, 292 shows up as Virtual transponder 60 Service # 1 (292 ECBN # is - 2.5 here vs other F2 transponders).

These are probably F2 ku transponder #s 10 and 31, which Telesat had been renting out for occasional video. If so, this would completely fill all F2 Ku transponders (SC 17; Cancom for truck tracking 2, VDI 13)

The 5xx also shows the same info as the prior models in the diagnostic screens AFAIK, but are in a different place.. the normal "status" screen also shows EbNo, which makes the whole thing easier :)

Is VDI moving to the new 118 location? it would be nice to gain a few more TPs for more HD

280 and 292 do not show up on my reciever.. I cant even enter them in manually, it skips to 281, and 298 respectively.

Latest rumor is that the new channels are 280 - TSN HD; 292 - WGN HD, with Discovery HD Theatre to be available when launched

I am confused, which is a normal state for me I guess, but does StarChoice have the HD feeds of CTV, Global, CBC and CityHD or are these only available from BEV? I don't see them on the PDF file on their website.

The only Canadian HD channel on SC (besides the 2 movie channels) is Rogers Sportsnet.

Jim Shaw, the founder of the Shaw empire, has threatened to put HBO HD on rather than the Simultaneous Substitution channels

Clearly Shaw cable has to have City, Global, CTV and CBC. Seems very strange he would try and sell a satellite service without that. Otherwise it just seems its like the old saying, cutting off your nose to spite your face.

They have the SD channels, but I dont know about the HD channels... But Starchoice clearly does not have any canadian HD channels other then the movie channels (TMN or MC) and Sportsnet. (at least not yet)

Considering CTV & Global basically carry the same stuff as the US Nets do, they dont have to carry the HD version :)

Considering Ferris Buellers Day Off was shown Saturday Afternoon in OAR on CityTVHD - and its never even been shown in the USA in HD - it would be nice to have these options with Shaw.

Several Star Wars of course made a Sunday Night HD debut on these channels as well.

I wouldn't mind CitytvHD. We use to have it when StarChoice used the omnibus method.

I can live without CTV and GLobal though as Iceberg mentioned they just repeat US programming.

292 is showing up with CBC-HD signal right now on my 500 receiver. No guide data, though. 280 still comes up with a "subscription required" screen.

Perhaps we will have HNIC in HD tomorrow?

Yes 292 is CBLT-DT Toronto; 280 will be TSN HD if the Shaw/Bell Globemedia contract ever gets 2 signatures on it.

I suspected we wouldn't see CBC HD until HNIC HD actually started tomorrow night at 7 pm est

Can you get Canadian Sat. in the U.S.

Is DTV6 on its way to be "NIMIQ 4" ?
