Nope it's being uplinked on DirecTV now.
I hear about it yesterday but did not hear it leaving Dish Network until today. I unnderstand that a few more internationals may be moving from Dish to DirecTV soon.

This is truly HORRIBLE news to me since I would've been interested in picking up the Korean pack if they just dumped MBN and replaced it with MBC then all the major Korean networks would've been covered plus hopefully "Music Camp" would return at some date. GOD this sucks. Dish better hold onto this and HD like a life raft because while I like the flexibility in pricing structure and the full HD International is the BIG market for Dish as compared to AmericanTV.
Thanks. I hope if they can't get SBS back they create a Korean HD pack like MHD. I mean I know it would be harder for Dish to negotiate those rights but seeing "Music Camp" if it gets back up in HD would be beautiful along with any concerts SBS would air, same with the rest.
I dont see a Korean HD pack coming, they havent even really done a american HD pack.

I wouldn't be surprised about certain Arabic channels in HD. Korean and Japanese channels would also be ideal candidates for carriage too. I'd also definitely push for HD international channels being added as many international customers are also tech-savvy and welcome the better PQ. But since national HD isn't mainstream yet without MPEG4 I doubt E* will carry international HD channels first without MPEG4 launching. They're compressing internationals and locals like crazy so E* is definitely not putting PQ as priority for international and local channels.
This IS big news for major metropolitan areas. In our area, we have many ethnic customers and IF some international channels go to D* from E* without warning like this SBS channel, there'll be some angry customers. Biggest int'l programming customers around here being the South Asian, Arabic, Chinese, Portugese, and Korean customers. E* better negotiate well!

Well E* is the only one who's got KBS which isn't FTA. Both SBS and MBC have FTA signals, thank GOD!

I can't think of any other channels that are major networks in terms of the BIG one's though "Arirang" might be, I'm not sure.

Dishnetwork making a big O mistake..
SBS is one of the most popular korean channels.. I see ppl flocking to DirectTV.
After new and enough existing customer base have left Dishnetwork, maybe dn will realize that they need to get SBS back.
My question is this. When programming decides to leave and goes to another Satellite is that because other satellite provider is providing more $$.

Well for one thing, I've never seen an international channel go from one satellite provider to another. I've seen exclusive channels become non-exclusive but never from one to another. Gol TV being one that became non-exclusive to E* when D* started carrying it. A good channel for South American and European soccer, I might add.
It's so rare for a channel to leave that I haven't seen it happen yet until this weekend. Usually the agreement to carry the channel(s) are long-term and in certain instances, they're also carried by another provider but I haven't seen one leave to another. I don't know how and why that happened but maybe this'll be a precedent with D* absorbing more channels from E*. D* did say that they're going to be serious with international programming so maybe these hostile "takeovers" of channels are just starting.

This was the last straw for Dish as far as I am concerned. I have mumbled to myself a number of times over the last year that the only reason why I've been staying with Dish over DirecTV is the fact that they carry SBS on their Korean pack.
As another member mentioned on here the two best channels in Korea are SBS and MBN (almost all the video rentals in the US come primarily from these two channels). The $36 per month pricetag was quite a sum to pay every month for the Korean Pack on Dish, but we paid it because it saved us at least that much in video rental fees.
I can somehow understand that there was a falling out between Dish and SBS and I can further understand that Mr. Murdoch over at DirecTV probably had quite a hand in this as well. Business is business and things happen. What annoys me to no end is that Dish has not communicated at all with its customers about this. This has been in the cards for quite some time and has had plenty of time to notify current subscribers that this would happen.
What did we hear from Dish? Nothing. What do you hear if you call up Dish on the phone? A recorded message to call SBS and complain. When you ask one of Dish's customer support representatives about the situation the first question they ask is, "What kind of channel is SBS?" Helllloooooooo??? When you go and visit Dish's website and do a search for SBS there isn't even a press release or a notice of any kind. When you look up the Korean Pack information, SBS has suddenly disappeared from the lineup and yet the price is still the same!
This is definitely a case of someone being asleep at the switch and is a bad sign for the future of Dish Network. Losing a few Korean subscribers here and there might seem like a small thing, after all how many Koreans are there in the United States? In the bigger picture however, Dish has to understand that it has relied on this niche market to keep it alive in the fight against the bigger satellite and cable companies.
Dish not only required that you ponied up the $36 per month for the Korean channels but you also had to subscribe to the regular American channels as well, so the average Korean household with a Dish account was forking out at least $65 per month to dish -- perhaps double what an average American Dish subscriber would pay. Plus with a strong Korean line-up these were captive customers. There was no alternative to decent Korean programming in the U.S. besides Dish (note the beginning of my e-mail).
What Dish should have done was to send out a letter to all its Korean Pack subscribers (in Korean preferably) explaining the situation prior to the cut-off date. Dish should also have (and if they are paying the least bit of information now, should) reduce the cost of the current remaining Korean channels significantly to perhaps $10 per month (they're barely worth that without SBS in my opinion). If I could hear from Dish that another premier channel like SBS will replace SBS in the line up (read: MBN) I might consider staying with them, but so far I haven't heard d*ck from Dish management....

It's actually MBC that DISH doesn't have. One source we contacted is saying that there's 2 new channels coming out and that's why the price is staying the same for now. I don't know for sure, though, as that's an unconfirmed rumor. I know JSTV is uplinked but I don't see another one. And no way would my customers think that JSTV will justify the same price tag unless MBC came online as well.
