Washington, D.C., January 3, 2006 -- The Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association (SBCA) today announced the appointment of Patricia Sumler as Executive Director.
Ms. Sumler is a non-profit executive who comes to SBCA from the Arkansas Medical, Dental, and Pharmaceutical Association. In addition to her leadership and program management skills, Ms. Sumler has a proven track record as a successful fundraiser. At her previous trade association, Ms. Sumler developed a continuing education program for members and increased membership by forty percent each year. She also has experience in lobbying State legislatures.
SBCA Board of Directors leaders DIRECTV and EchoStar Communications said in a joint statement that, “After a careful and deliberate search, we are pleased to welcome Patricia Sumler to SBCA and the satellite community. We are looking forward to working with Patricia and the SBCA staff to deliver value to all sectors of the satellite industry. With Patricia’s leadership and support from SBCA members, we can all work to increase SBCA’s membership rolls so SBCA can better serve as an effective leader for the satellite industry. Ms. Sumler will be instrumental in leading SBCA as it continues to focus on growing its education programs and services.”
Ms. Sumler graduated Summa Cum Laude from Grambling State University and is a member of several professional groups including the American Society of Association Executives, Rotary International, and the Arkansas Bioterrorism Steering Committee.
