Here is a tone everyone can like...
Please say something nice about a team you do not like, perhaps even despise. I don't mean backhanded compliments like 'they would be a good minor league team', I mean something really nice.
If I can to it with a certain team from the bad island, anyone can do it.
bad island team - Their new (old) uniforms look really good. Seriously. It even reminds me of when they were good, which I'm sure is the point of using them.
Red Sox - Terry Francona is one of the classiest people in sports.
Patriots - Belicheck gets more out of his talent than anyone in the NFL.
Michigan - A much better academic school than Ohio State. And they had Bo (a lot longer than we did).
Penguins - Their commercial on NHL Network is spectacular. Set to the tune of 'What a Wonderful World', in 30 seconds it captures the speed, the grace, the fans, the youth, the past (Mario), the artistry, the hitting, the outdoor game, and everything else that's good about hockey. I'm a Ranger fan, and it gives me chills.
Flyers - Well my dad always hated Bobby Clarke, but he said he'd rather have him on his team than any other player he'd ever seen. And he saw Orr, Howe, Gretzky, Lemieux, Harvey, Hull, etc.
Florida - Meyer really knows how to coach. Dislike him, but cannot deny he's one of the best.
Georgetown - I like the new Thompson much more than the old one. And he's a Princeton guy.
Mets - I have a friend who is involved in the structure of the new stadium. He assures me it's going to be one of the spectacular places to watch baseball in America. And he's a Yankee fan.
Syracuse - Love the tradition of standing until the first basket is scored.
