I am scheduled to get my 2 original Hopper system upgraded to 1 Hopper with Sling and 1 Super Joey. I have a lot of learned commands programmed into each of my remotes. Is it possible to back up my remote settings somehow so that I can copy them over to the new remotes without having to manually re-learn all the commands?

Your Hopper remote updates and backs up settings automatically. You can also go to remote manager and do it manually. Regardless, you can still use your current remotes.

For the Hopper settings, pair your current remote (not the new remote) with the new HWS during the setup wizard, it will recognize the backup and ask if you want to restore. Virtually all the Hopper settings will be restored.

As for the learned remote commands, I don't know of a way to transfer those from one remote to another, but I've never tried. You can continue to use your original remotes though.

Don't let the tech take either the old or new remotes, unless things have changed, they don't need to be returned. Keep them as extras.

It's in the system wizard menu or just press and hold zero.

Ah ok, found it, but as I understand it that is only backing up the system settings to the remote and the backup/restore doesn't include learned remote commands. Or does it? If not, I can do what others suggested above and just continue to use my old remotes with the new boxes.

Not sure it it backs those up or not. Try it and find out.

It does. When I switched from Hopper to HWS I transferred all the settings from old remote to new HWS & just kept them instead of new one. Mine programmed to run Receiver & BD player as well as HWS & TV.
