Tonight, I updated the SatFinder application's text file to include the following:

  • Additional Satellites - 30.0W deg - 148.0W
  • Satellite Type - C, KU, C & KU or L-S-KA
  • Updated Satellite Names
  • Corrected Several Satellite Locations
  • Removed DBS Satellites From Top of List

Just replace the existing text file with the one attached named satlist.txt found under Documents and Settings.

good work !

Thank you. That is very useful, and a great update to an old standard.
There are a lot of other calculators, but I really enjoy this one.
...and the author has left it unattended...

I'm using an improved list by Shawn95GT from about 10/2005, and updated by me for customized DBS bird locations and use of the degree symbol:º.
Was really dreading the thought of looking up all the new FTA bird names and fixing the file.

Now, maybe if it listed each satellite by all three names...

It was just driving me nuts last night using the old list and seeing most of the satellite names incorrect and some of their positions wrong. Plus, I wanted to add additional satellites to the list. I thought since it took me awhile to generate the new list that I would share with others on this forum.

Using the degree symbol and listing by all three names are great suggestions as well.

more development

Sent ya my raw list as food for thought.

Not sure you have room to implement the 3-name trick - that was mostly a joke.
But if you pull it off...

I'm particularly proud of the independent DBS section, and the aiming info for the common multi-LNB dishes.
That was all mine.
