Sat tax in Missouri?

  • Server Issues.

We are very aware that there have been system issues the past few days. In troubleshooting the system, it has been determined that the issue is at our provider and is hardware related. As of 12:05 PM ET our provider has moved us to a new server.

Things seem to be running better on this new server. However in trying to diagnose the issue (before finding out it was a hardware issue) we made some system changes which we need to undo. So if you find any issues or errors please let us know in the Operations Center Forum.

Thank you for your patience! Sorry for the issue!

The compromise would put cable and phone companies on the same footing, with neither required to obtain local franchise agreements. In addition to allowing cable companies to opt out of existing franchise agreements with local governments, the measure would impose a 5 percent tax on satellite TV services, which now are not assessed a franchise fee.

Griesheimer said this provision was added at the request of the cable operators and would probably be nixed in committee.

welcome to the club....MO will be joining several states who have heard the whinings of cable companies who must pay a per subscriber franchise fee( which they pass along to the subs) to the municipality and state in which they do business..Cable co's have been running to the various State Govrs and complaining that satellite companies and customers did not have to pay any of these fees....State govts reacted by looking upon satellite customers as cash cows and without much debate passed these govt money grabs into law...It's crap.....

I could understand this tax if there were much of a reason but no one's digging up ground all around to plant Cable, it's a Sat Dish placed on the roof for crying out loud.
