Having trouble locking in my dads sat and plan on buying a digital sat finder/meter cause every now and then mine, his and friends etc go out of whack and since I'm the resident electronic guru I want to buy one and heck its cool to have toys.
Anybody use a Birdog or an SF3000E. The later is cheaper brand new but any suggestions would be great.
thanks.

what kind of satellites are you wanting to line up? Dish and Directv? or FTA?

And yeah, a ton of installers use Birdog meters, never seen a sf3000e, but it looks interesting and it is much cheaper than a birddog. But honestly, if you are just needing it every once in a while, and just pointed dish or direct, i would just go to your local radio shack and pick up a $20 meter. For occasional/hobby use, they are fine.

Birdog has been a great meter and I strongly recommend it. The time saved by using one is incredible. I have dropped mine numerous times and it still works fine.
