I have seen bith very good and absolutely awful pictures on 30 inch CRTs from these makers. Does anyone have experience with them and/or know what might account for a wide variation in PQ? I do not have model numbers but will try to get them?

The Samsung slimfit CRT's have alot of geometry problems, alot. Phillips like to push red. We've got a Phillips 32" in the bedroom an it's been a fairly good TV, my wife really likes it but I can't stand the silver cabinet.

Are these available local to you and where is local? I've seen a few screaming deals on good CRT's lately in my neck of the woods.

Local to me is Northern VA. I see the Samsungs al the time. I am unsure how new or old the Philips TVs were.

I have the 34" Phillips of that same model. I like it, but I've seen some geometry problems I haven't been able to fix. Picture quality has been good otherwise, but not quite as good as my plasma. One huge draw back is the weight. The unit weighs about 180 lbs. Hard to move without two able body people (three are preferrible).
