Ha ha ha! Samsung teams up with HTC, leaving Apple to...what?
Invent their own propritery standard?
Team up with Intel, perhaps?
Apple should have made a move like this.
But they don't like to team up with competitors.
Of course, for all the stink about no NFC in the iPhone 5, if the 5S has it, they won't -really- have missed the window.
Kind of reminds me of the US in the early space race.
We missed a LOT of "firsts", but didn't we win in the end?

That would depend on the definition of win. In robotic exploration we win. It can be rather easily argued that we have lost the manned mission space race.
