For 13 years, I was a happy DirecTV customer! But then a month ago, I ordered the DirecTV Genie whole home dvr service, the techs came out and told me that they could not install my Genie because my coax lines were not up to code and that the job would require major work not covered under the order. So they advised me to call DirecTV back and request that my order require rewiring, after discussing this matter in length will DirecTV sales staff, they agreed to add the rewiring to the order. So...3 days later the installer shows up, checks his work order an NO REWIRING was on the work order! WTF I said., I talked to 5 people at DirecTV, 2 that were supervisors. Even the installer talked to them to see if they can make the order into a "MOvers Connection" order. The supervisor said that was 'Illegal"! So I told her..so that is illegal to help a long term customer?! At that point I told her they just lost a long term customer. After this I tried for 2 weeks straight talking to various CSR's to see if they would be able to help and after falling on deaf ears, I cancelled my service . This has been by far the worst customer support I have ever received by a Major corporation. I now have Time Warner Cable as my sole provider. Take that their equipment is now as performance enhanced as DirecTV's but at least they rewired my house and all is good for now.

Sorry to hear your bad experience.

Sorry you didn't check here first, someone would have given you the address to the Pres and this more than likely would have been taken care of.

I don't have the address, but another will chime in with it soon.

Now you will receive offers to "come back" with more discounts and free stuff then you need. Yet it would have been much simpler and less expensive just to keep you.

Ive had my issues with Direc. The last 4 years it seems the customer service
pendulum is swinging to the downside.

I was on the verge of leaving but they stopped me. It did not take
much. Unfortunately I still follow my dreaded Ny Jets. So I caved in.

Its strange how sometimes a company ''gets it'' when it comes to customer
service-then all of a sudden they don't?

Maybe they feel they need to tighten their belt and give
very little away.
New management, new philosophy?

However, I wonder if the realize that people have choices today.
Is it worth losing a sub over doing the ''right'' thing?

Yes, there are the folks who try to milk the system.
But the majority of people just want a good value
and to be appreciated.

i can't believe some of the insane offers i'm getting via email and phone. to be fair in my case it wouldn't have mattered.

that was true in my case. i left for a year and all retention would offer me was a free hd dvr upgrade. yet, every month i would get a letter in the mail offering me the same package new customers got to come back. i finally did.

offers that appear to include a free genie, discounts for 3 years with premium channels and free sunday ticket. i haven't read all the details but was shocked to see they would give me 3 years of discounts. i was looking for the email but must be in the trash bin of my tablet. i'll look for it tonight. did see the other emails with offers but not the 3 years.

I'm sorry you left DirecTV over this issue. It should be noted that this is not a major life decision. It's cable television programming services. There are people who leave one provider to go with the next just for special promotion offers, because they're of personal and economic importance. I hope you do well with Time Warner Cable. Or that Time Warner Cable does well by you.
