When it was first announced that Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool movie would finally be getting made following a test footage “leak,” fans everywhere rejoiced. Finally there would be redemption for the mouthless zombie Deadpool that somehow was allowed to appear in X-Men Origins. We have ourselves a release date of February 2016, a director in visual effects whiz Tim Miller, and a leading man in Reynolds. All the pieces are in place for a comic book movie that we’re venturing to guess will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen.Behind a stellar two minutes of test footage and a passionate creative team, already we have a recipe for a great movie. But more than that, it’s a chance to redeem an entire dark chapter of the X-Men movie franchise. We’ve already seen X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: First Class toss Origins out the window as non-canon, but with the birth of a Deadpool movie, we’ll finally put the nail in a coffin that’s long overdue to be buried. But this of course leads to the next logical question of what exactly the planned film will be about.A brief synopsis on the 20th Century Fox website gives us a wonderfully vague rundown of upcoming movie’s plot:
It took years of continuous fan support to get Deadpool the green light, and now those fans are having their patience and persistence rewarded with copious on-set photos from the movie’s production in Vancouver.Paparazzi have been staking out director Tim Miller’s set, and over the weekend, they caught a few particularly revealing photos of Reynolds and his stunt double as the Merc with a Mouth. Above, you can see that the costume is faithful to the character’s comic get-up (he may have super-healing capabilities, but his red suit sure takes a beating). Perhaps more importantly, you can see in the photo below that the film is going all-in on the horrible facial scars that Deadpool's alter ego Wade Wilson received as he attained his super healing powers. The resemblance to Star Wars’ Emperor Palpatine, we presume, is unintentional.
The superheroes of Hollywood have done a helluva job tending to the real world lately. We’ve seen Chris Evans (Captain America) and Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) visit Seattle Children’s Hospital, and Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) raise over $2 million for Julia’s House children’s hospices. Now Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) has gotten into the act. The star entertained Tony Acevedo, a child fighting Hodgkin’s lymphoma, to the Vancouver set of Deadpool this week as part of a Make-a-Wish fulfillment.“I wasn’t expecting him to sneak the mask, put on the gloves, smile… and then beat Deadpool about the face, arms and jugular with blazing speed,” Reynolds wrote on Instagram. “Tony’s next fight is with Hodgkin’s Disease. Hodgkin’s Disease best be wearing its brown pants.” (And yes, Reynolds is quoting to the sailor-mouthed crimefighter, implying the debilitating disease will be soiling itself.)
Just in case those latest glimpses of ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ weren’t enough for you, here’s another sneaky peek at one of 2016?s new big screen superheroes (if we can call him that), with the first official still from ‘Deadpool.’Okay - so it isn’t exactly a revelation that this is what Marvel’s motor-mouthed mutant anti-hero looks like, but none of the photos we’ve seen thus far of Ryan Reynolds in costume were bona fide images from the movie itself. The image premiered, ahead of the upcoming San Diego Comic Con, at Entertainment Weekly, who are absolutely on fire for first look photos in recent days, having brought us the ‘Batman V Superman’ photos and our first look at the cast of new TV series ‘Ash Vs Evil Dead’.
The upcoming Deadpool film now officially has a trailer ... for tomorrow's trailer.Featuring jokes about the disastrous first appearance of the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and winking knowledge of how stupid it is to do a trailer for a trailer, the whole thing is more fun than it has any right to be, but that's to be expected from a promotional campaign that involved following Hello Kitty on Twitter. This is a film that knows how to make its own rating into a good joke, and that sort of thing has made us nearly as excited about the marketing leading up to the film as the film itself, which is a weird thing to admit.
The first irrefutably NSFW trailer for ‘Deadpool’ has arrived and it’s glorious. Watch it in full below, but maybe pop your headphones in if you’re at work. You have been warned.Ryan Reyndolds stars as the fourth wall-breaking “merc with a mouth” in this new Marvel film from 20th Century Fox. Set in the ‘X-Men’ universe, this 18-rated film already has fans going wild at the prospect of seeing ‘Deadpool’ done right.Reynold’s first outing as Deadpool in ‘X-Men: Origins - Wolverine’ was unanimously hated by critics and fanboys and the 38-year-old Canadian has long campaigned for another chance to do the anti-hero properly. To do it properly means no holds barred, self-referential, and absolutely bat-sh** insane and judging from the first trailer, they’ve pretty much nailed it.Here’s the best in-jokes and Easter eggs to keep an eye out for in the trailer.
After numerous amazing teases, the "merc with a mouth," Deadpool, has made his official debut in his first full-length trailer.Ryan Reynolds gave fans a deeper look at the fan-favorite, foul-mouthed mercenary in a wild, bloody and hilarious new spot.In addition to diving deeper into the backstory of the the "X-Men" spinoff character, the new trailer even manages to slam Ryan's other superhero movie, 2011's flop, "Green Lantern.""And please don't make the supersuit green – or animated!" his character says. The Red Band trailer, which dropped on Tuesday night, features X-Men's Colossus, this time played by actor Andre Tricoteux, who takes over for Daniel Cudmore.Deadpool first appeared on the big screen in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," and will blast in to theaters on February 12, 2016.Deadpool | Red Band Trailer [HD] | 20th Century FOX Deadpool | Red Band Trailer : Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life........Cast: Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand
Fox had already penned in a date for a sequel on June 9th 2017 – but they may be backtracking on that idea.Deadpool isn’t released until February 2016, but the red band trailer has already generated positive buzz among comic book fans, and according to The Daily Superhero we may see a sequel for it in the place of the current Fantastic Four sequel date.It should be noted that the source of this rumour is hardly reputable, but it wouldn’t be too out-of-sight for Fox to distance themselves away from the movie following all its bad press.Deadpool is set for release on February 5th 2016 in the UK and February 12th 2016 in the States. Reynolds and Miller will share the screen with Morena Baccarin (Gotham) as Copycat, Gina Carano (Fast & Furious 6) as Angel Dust, Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones) as Ajax, Andre Tricoteux (Seventh Son) as Colossus, Leslie Uggams (Roots) as Blind Al and newcomer Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
The release of Deadpool is very close and the excitement for the R-rated superhero movie keeps building, that being the case, a new image from the film has been released teasing the humor that we can expect come February next year. Ryan Reynolds tweeted out a pic showcasing his Deadpool “trying to connect” with Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
If you’re going to dress up on Halloween as a character you’re already known for portraying, this is surely the way to do it.We’re already well accustomed to the sight of Ryan Reynolds in costume as Deadpool, the motor-mouthed Marvel mutant anti-hero whose first solo movie is due in just over three months. However, Reynolds opted to don that suit especially to go trick-or-treating in the company of a bunch of children dressed as the X-Men, in classic comic book form.Never one to pass up the opportunity to throw a little shade, Reynolds shared the image on Twitter with the remark, “Dear Fox, stop changing the timelines. It’s confusing the audience. #xmenassemble #happyhalloween ”Reports that local households were giving out chimichanga instead of candy have not been verified. The long-awaited ‘Deadpool’ movie promises to be considerably more loyal to the comics than the version of the character Reynolds portrayed in the much-lamented ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine.’
It’s a cold, rainy, and thoroughly miserable early spring day in the industrial outskirts of Vancouver, but Ryan Reynolds couldn’t be happier. The 39-year-old actor is finally shooting Deadpool, the wild-card superhero film that the quick-witted, effortlessly upbeat star has been trying to get made in some form for more than a decade. Now, he’s finally donning the foul-mouthed antihero’s red-and-black threads — and in his hometown, no less. “He’s totally getting a kickback,” director Tim Miller cracks about the production’s northwest Canadian location. “Big-time kickback,” Reynolds responds. “[I see] my menacing mother every Sunday. That’s the kickback.”Banter about Reynolds’ “very hot” mom ensues, apropos to the film he and his director have been shooting for nearly two months now. Deadpool, Marvel’s “Merc With a Mouth,” is a notoriously crude crimefighter, one with a surprisingly sinister background: Born Wade Wilson, he was terminally ill until shady government experiments held by Weapon X — the shifty government research project — endowed him with super-strength and accelerated healing powers.
‘Deadpool’s loud-mouth star will be pansexual, star Ryan Reynolds and director Tim Miller have revealed. The news is in-keeping with the comics and makes the film pretty historic among superhero movies. The latest film in 20th Century Fox’s 'X-Men’ universe is already notable for its hard R rating, the first for a superhero movie in quite some time.Asked by Collider if the film would star a “hypersexualised” version of the Merc with a Mouth, Miller said: “Pansexual! I want that quoted. Pansexual Deadpool.”Not ambiguity there. “There is some sexuality in this movie for sure,” added Reynolds. “You kinda think you have moments when you’re shooting where you think, ‘This is, uh, a little excessive. This is a comic book movie. Are we gonna get away with this?’ But so far so good. Studio hasn’t crushed us with anything.”Indeed the film’s blood-splattered adult rating is something it will wear proudly. In July Simon Kinberg - who oversees the Fox superhero movies - said: “It’s graphic. Nothing is taboo. You either commit to a truly outrageous boundary-pushing kind of movie or you don’t.”
