I've got an installer for Direct coming tomorrow. I currently have Dish and plan on keeping it a few extra days to do some side-by-side comparisons and whatnot. So how upset will the installer get if I tell him to run new wires through the yard and drill new holes in the wall for a 2 room installation (dish is about 50 feet or so away from room 1 and 100 feet or so away from room 2) instead of just using the cables that are already there with Dish? It doesn't cost extra to have them run new cables and drill holes through the wall does it? I don't care about an extra hole in the wall, the entry point for both rooms is out of sight.

Thanks guys!

I am having my installer do the same. Running cable is included with installation if needed and for me I am reusing the existing cable. So for me it is needed to run new cable. I just spoke with my installer over the phone and he didn't seem to care that much once I told him I had a basement.

For future expansion you should consider having the line(s) from the dish run to a common location and then distribute from there. Do you know if you are getting an SWM install?

The installer will likely walk away if they can't install a finished system.

The overriding issue is that if you don't hook absolutely everything up correctly after your other system is removed, he'll get docked the whole installation for something that was entirely your fault.
