100% Digital Simulcast-rumors
After doing searches on many of the Cable forums and threads at other sites, there is lots of talk about Cox starting there Digital Simulcast roll out in a few months. Please I have contacted Cox.
Digital Simulcast- This means 100% all Digital channels like on Satellite!!!!!
I even emailed cox and they estimated that they would start in Omaha in April, though they were sure to say this was no firm date. Orange County is reporting rumors of already 40 Test Digital channels already being tested (not avl to the public yet).
Omaha and other markets are reporting that many of the old PPV and Porn channels were removed as they are now supported by real time on demand. This freed up about 10 Channels per market.
Studies are showing that 1 analog channels equals 4-5 Digital channels.
Thus with 10 Free that could be 50 simulcast channels.
One time Warner market that already has Digital Simulcast showed in a press release that do the end user the Cable box just maps the normal analog number to the new Digital simulcast channel so you do not have to re learn the new channel number.
This is all sounds real good and should give SAT a run for the money, all Digital and TV on Demand.
Any one else hearing other rumors or updated info for your Cox market?
Please update this thread as we go, it should be an exciting time this spring/summer for some Cox markets . . . .
