I am getting word a number of international channels are leaving DIRECTV as of MARCH 31.

From what I am told is that DIRECTV is not happy with the International market and may be looking to get out.

Maybe DirecTV decided to use the space on Galaxy 3C at 95 for DirecTV LA vs. international channels since from what I've seen in financial calls the latin american business is growing at a nice clip.

That's interesting they are going to cede that market to Dish.
DIRECTV never really approached the level of the DISH Network offering.

I believe it is a major mistake because it is one area that they can claim a distinct advantage over most terrestrial systems.

The move to SWiM would seem to preclude internationals.

We were told at our tech meeting a couple of months ago that the international channels would be moved to mpeg 4 sats this spring.Of course we don't know how true is that:rolleyes:.

Directv is more of a HD and sports channel content provider. Charlie picks up the customers that Directv doesn't need or want.

Why is dish rumors in the pub section and direct rumors out in the open.

There been no rumblings about ILG ( international language group ) being fired. They are the one that handle the non spanish internationals.

I guess Dish Network is going to make up for subscriber loss due to those additional hardware fees with those customers they will get from Directv International customers.

Not really since the external SWiM modules have connections for the international slot.
You know as well as I do that DIRECTV very rarely installs SWiM external switches in single family residences. The SWiM LNB is the order of the day.
