Hi guys,

I am just in the midst of setting up a second receiver. It is the 9000HD. I find that it blind scans quite well. It finds a few extra channels than my main (slave) reciever, the Coolsat 5000.
Only problem I have experienced so far (other than a very touchy remote!) is that it scans in both RTV east and west, but for some reason there is no audio or video. The Coolsat is coming in clear at about the 70 to 80% mark. The AMC9-3 info bar channel comes in fine, but no RTV.
I checked the channel info (tp, pid, vid) and they match the ones on the Coolsat.

Strange, but I wonder what I could be doing wrong?

Is it the 8000HD that you have? I'm not aware of a 9000HD unit.

My 8000 lost audio on a couple of channels after I edited the channel list. I found that rescanning the TP fixed the problem for me.

On a side note...I notice on RTV west that there are some bars that show up on the right side of the screen that only appear when I use the Sonicview...they aren't there when I use the Coolsat 8100. Do you notice the same thing on yours by chance?

My apologies.... yes I meant to type 8000HD.

No I Have not noticed any type of bars on any station so far. Mind you I have only had it for a few days.

I do not understand why both RTV's will scan in fine, but wont show sound or picture.

All other channels seem to compare prety much to the Coolsat 5000 I am running.
Maybe a few more show up on the 8000HD.

I see the bars (lines) on the SV 8000 and via OTA. I guess it depends on what type of TV you're using to view the channel. On an HDTV, you'll probably see those lines because you're watching a 4:3 picture on a 16:9 screen. On a 4:3 TV, those lines are probably hidden due to the overscan of the TV.

Well I tried scanning in AMC9 again today and the same thing is happening. Both RTV channels are scanned in with no audio or video present.

This is very strange considering they are both coming in fine on my Coolsat 5000 in the other room!

Tried messing around with the PID's and stuff, but no luck!

Can you swap the SV 8000 with CS 5000 location and see if then it works for RTV. You could have a cable issue ,RTV has a week singnal and it don't take much to drop it.

I have now tried what you suggested. I moved the Coolsat 5000 over to the other room temporarily, just to see if the RTV stations would come in.
They did!
It seems the Sonicview 8000HD has a lesser grade tuner than the Coolsat??

Very strange, considering they scan in.

Update....
Tries scanning 83W again today and now they dont scan in with the Sonicview.
Puzzeling.

I am truly stumped by this Sonicview 8000HD with RTV!!!

With the RTV signal being so good lately, it is now up 90% on my Coolsat 5000 slave receiver.

The Sonicview will scan both RTV's in just fine (tried it again last night), but will not bring in audio or video.

Both receivers are connected to my Invacom QPH-031 LNBF. I know that there are no other splices in the 2 lines coming in the house.
Could it be something with the LNB?

RTV is the ony ones that do not come in, all other sats and channels match between the two receivers.

Can someone post the transponder and other info for picking up these 2 channels, I would like to compare to mine.
Thanks

If it's working on the Coolsat, which is slaved to the Sonicview, it would be hard to believe that it's anything but the Sonicview.

Do you get any of the other channels on AMC9 with the Sonicview?

Have you tried.....
Try creating a new Sat and Blind Scanning
A factory Reset?

Why don't you delete the old channel from SV and create a new RTV channel with data matching Coolsat's, and see what happen? At times it helps to Delete a Sat (its not deleted, only TPs and channels), and rescan it again, then go to Channel Edit and compare new data for that channel with the old one.

Yes I have tried manually adding the channel info from the Coolsat into the Sonicview for RTV, and still nothing.

That is why I wanted to see if someone elses channel info matched the Coolsat.

The only thing I did notice is that the channel info from the Sonicview did not match the info from the Coolsat. Is that normal? Or possible?

As far as others on AMC9 goes, there is not much. Just the 1 test bar channel and I know there is a feed for the nightly news that comes on once and a while. Is there one I dont know about? I am on Ku only.

Yes I have tried to delete all info on the sat and then rescanned, and nothing.

It contradicts your first post, but it is possible since signal processing hardware employed by each receiver is different.

Success!!

I do not know how or why, but now it comes in.
The Sonicview 8000HD does not have 83W in its list of sats, so it was added on by me to start with. I deleted the add-on. Re-set the sat and scanned. The 2 RTV`s were the first to populate the scan.

This time, there is picture and sound!
I know I have done this before just a couple of weeks ago, and nothing. What I notice now is that the channel info matches the Coolsat 5000.

Thanks for all your help guys.
