Today I started setting up my first fta dish since 2008. My idea was to set up a fixed dish for hispasat Ku at 30 degrees. I live in the southeast so the signal should be pretty strong and is at 24.6 degrees. I decided to try my old 31 inch dish that was once motorized. My first problem was the lnb was a qaud invacom and the plastic end cover on the feedhorn had fallen apart and rain had entered for awhile. When I hooked it up to my old coolsat 8000 I only got 10% signal strength and 0 quality. This stayed the same even with the lnb unhooked. The only other lnb that I had on hand was from a 1.2m channelmaster primestar dish. This had the cm120 feedhorn an separate h and v outputs. I was able to mount it in thru fortec dish holder but I know the focal point was probably way off. Anyway I immediately got 80% signal strength with this lnb and increased to 96% when the dish was peaked on what I calculated to be hispasats position. Unfortunately, I could not get any signal quality. In desperation, I switched back to the invacom and changed ports. I immediately got a signal strength of 60 and a quality of 50. Unfortunately this only lasted for about 30 seconds before returning to 10 strength and 0 quality. At this point I gave up. I figure I need another standard lnb to try. Any recommendations for a lnb from amazon? I have a prime membership, and can get it before the holiday if I order one from them.
