I have a Zenith ZENRTR1 rotor I bought a few years back. I had to redo my mast and now I can't find the manual on how to initially calibrate it. Does anyone know where I can download a manual or refresh my memory on how to due the initial setup?

One problem I think I've already realized is that I have the zero stop point facing south (180°) rather than north. Any idea how to compensate for that?

Thanks.

yardline,

To get the manual, you may go to zenith.com or a google search.

My Rat Shack rotator manual is online at their website and it may be similar. To calibrate the Rat Shack model, plug the unit in to power, then turn the knob anti clockwise to zero and let it stabilize. Then turn the knob full clockwise and let it stabilize. Finally back anticlockwise to N. As to the antenna being positioned 180 out, I'm not sure if the Zenith rotator will overcome that. Either reinstall it to the correct orientation, or (like I do) compensate in my head.

I hope this helps.

It is a common practice to have the zero stop to the south rather than to the north if it makes it easier to re-aim the rotor. Suppose you have transmitters located to the Northwest (315 deg) and to the Northeast (45 degrees). If the stop is at due north, then you'd have to rotate the antenna 270 degrees to go from one heading to the other.

With the old rotors, we just pasted different lables on the dial. I haven't read the rotor manuals to see if there is anything that can be done electroncally that is moreuser freindly, but I advise against going up on the roof and rotating the motor 180 degrees.

My rotor has a digital read out, so i just make a chart with the numbers inverted that I could refer to. Works good so far. Thanks.
