Dewey Robertson, best known to younger wrestling fans as "The Missing Link" passed away today at the age of 68.

Robertson started wrestling in his native Canada in the 1960s under the name of Dewey Robertson. He was a very popular wrestler in the Toronto area. He left to wrestle in the United States in 1973, but returned a year later as The Masked Crusader with manager John St. John. He was on a crusade to keep wrestling scientific but was soon unmasked by The Sheik. After that, Robertson formed a tag team called "The Crusaders" with Billy Red Lyons.

He owned a gym in the 1970s and had a television spot where he tore up a phone book to promote his gym.

In 1979, Robertson wrestled in the NWA's Jim Crockett Promotions with "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers as his manager. He used Rogers' figure-four leg lock as his finisher.

He changed his look and became The Missing Link in 1983 in Mid-South Wrestling and started acting crazy. He got over and was signed by the World Wrestling Federation in 1985. He was managed by both Jimmy Hart and Bobby Heenan and often was stopped from doing a flying headbutt on a chair by Heenan after a match. Sports Illustrated even did an article on him.

He left the WWE for World Class Championship Wrestling in 1986 as a member of Devastation Incorporated. WCCW, seeing the audience cheering for the gimmick, turned him fan favorite and Sunshine became his handler. In late 1986, he left for the Universal Wrestling Federation where he was managed by Dark Journey.

He retired in the 1990s but came back to do independent shows as The Missing Link starting in 2004.

Robertson died in a hospital in Hamilton, Ontario on August 16, 2007 after a long battle with cancer. He was 68 years old.

BREAKING NEWS: Dewey Robertson, also known as "The Missing Link" passes away

RIP Missing Link.....I remember seeing this crazy guy in World Class Championship Wrestling (the old Von Erich territory) with green face paint, parts of hair in spots, and was just nuts. He was part of "Devastation Inc" with Kamala and Skandar Akbar as the manager. He would headbutt the turnbuckle for no reason :D

RIP Link...one of the first men I remember from "Parts Unknown" or in the case of the below the announcer says "Lands Unknown"

(old WCCW match against Terry Bam Bam Gordy....I can guess they can have that match again in heaven soon) :(

I do recall him and he was quite a showman. First time I have heard "Dark Journey" mentioned in a long time too.
